Split PDF files into pages, ranges or equal chunks without uploading them.

How it works
Open one PDF
Open the tool (it may ask you to sign in first) and add a PDF. You'll see a grid of page tiles.
Select pages
Click tiles, or type a range like 1-3, 5. Then rotate, delete or move them.
Save or split
Use Save, Extract selected, or Split. Each split result is its own download.
How do I split a PDF?
Add the file and pick the pages. Type a range such as 1-3, 5 to select pages 1 to 3 and page 5, or click tiles one by one. Then choose what to do:
- Save keeps the whole file with your changes (rotation, deleted or moved pages).
- Extract selected makes a new PDF from only the selected pages.
- Split cuts the file every N pages, or into custom ranges. Each result is its own download.
You can also rotate, delete and move pages before saving, so it doubles as a quick page organizer.
How do I find the right page?
The tiles show the page number and the rotation, not a picture of the page. That's a real limit, and it changes how you work.
Before you open the tool, open the PDF in your usual viewer and note the page numbers you need: say the invoice is on 14 and the signature page is 31. Then type those numbers or ranges in. It takes a minute, and it's more reliable than clicking around.
Why cut a range before an AI job?
The AI tools take about 5.7 MB per PDF, and very long documents get cut or refused. The way around it is to cut the pages you need first. Extract selected does that on your device, so only those pages leave it when you run the AI job.
For example, pull pages 40-62 of a long report, then ask for a summary. There's a full walkthrough in summarize a long PDF.
What it will not do
- It doesn't compress. A page extracted from a heavy file keeps its weight, so a small page count can still be a big file.
- It doesn't edit text inside pages or fill forms.
- It can't open a password-protected PDF.
- It shows no thumbnails, so it can't help you find a page by how it looks.
What does it cost, and is my file uploaded?
No Gems. The Pages tool runs in your browser, and the file never leaves your device. You can check this in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools. The app may ask you to sign in before the tool opens.
To join files instead, use merge PDF.
Questions about Split PDF
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Select the pages by clicking tiles or typing a range like 1-3, 5, then press Extract selected. You get a new PDF with only those pages, and the original stays as it was.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts?
Yes. Choose Split and set every N pages, for example every 10. You can also enter custom ranges. Each result downloads as its own file.
Why don't I see a preview of each page?
The tiles show the page number and rotation, not thumbnails. Open the PDF in your viewer first and note the numbers you need, then select them here.
Does splitting make the file smaller?
Fewer pages usually means a smaller file, but the tool doesn't compress anything. A single page with a large image can stay large, so check the size of the result.
Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?
No. It runs in your browser with no server and no Gems. To verify, open the Network tab in developer tools while you work and look for requests carrying your file.
